On Tap Plumbers, a leading and multi-award winning commercial plumbing company is celebrating International Women’s Day and giving its full support to the 2018 #pressforprogress campaign, especially to encourage more women to consider a career in the construction industry.

For a long time the company co-founder and director Anne Timpany has been visiting schools and colleges to inspire and encourage the next generation to come into the construction industry. She says “International Women’s Day is a great event for us to support, especially as we have been pro actively campaigning for years to get more women into our industry.

“We are always on the lookout for female plumbers or apprentices because the opportunities for a well paid successful career – and that all important gender parity- is totally available in our industry. As long as you can do the job you are on the same level playing field as everyone else, no ‘pay gaps’ in our company. Although construction is very much a male dominated sector I think women are generally treated with respect and equality in our industry. ”

International Women’s Day 2018 says that despite a global response to the sexual harassment campaigns and pay gap reviews, women must not be complacent. Their message this year is for a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity, hence #PressforProgress, enabling and encouraging women globally to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

International Women’s Day is not country, group or organisation specific. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere and the intention is to accelerate gender parity in #Press for Progress.
