Anne and Raff, Directors of On Tap Plumbers, met the NVQ Level 2 and 3 plumbing students at Uxbridge College today and gave them an inspiring presentation to encourage them to follow a career in plumbing.

On Tap Plumbers, which specialises in commercial plumbing and mechanical installations on construction sites in London and the surrounding areas, is a young and dynamic company and both Anne and Raff explained the many benefits of a plumbing career, including development opportunities for the more ambitious students.

The 40 students who attended were completely engaged in the presentation and many of them asked a lot of questions. Anne, who is keen to get more females into construction, met an adult lady plumber who has found it hard to get an apprenticeship or work on site, possibly because she is in her 30s. Anne and Raff were keen to encourage her and gave her invaluable advice on how to proceed.

After the talk at least two students approached On Tap Plumbers, which is a very good sign. Lee Elgy, Uxbridge College’s Course Team Leader for Building Services Engineering & Plumbing, who arranged the On Tap Plumbers visit, said “We really appreciate companies like On Tap Plumbers coming into the College and inspiring our students in their plumbing careers. We got great feedback from our students this morning and they were all pumped up after the presentation. Our learners now have a better understanding of the commercial world and we look forward to the career opportunities the construction industry can offer them.
